I am Steven Y. Caudill of Winchester, Kentucky. I grew up and now live just a few  miles northeast of Fort Boonesborough.

My family has a rich background in the history of this area. I started at the age of nine shooting competitively at the National Level in Friendship, Indiana during the National Muzzle Loader Rifle Association Shoots.

As a child I remember being at the grand opening of the reconstructed Fort Boonesborough in 1974 and through the years have grown to love the stories of Daniel Boone in this area in the 18th Century.

I was raised to love the traditions and rich heritage of the early pioneers who came to make “Kantuck-ee” their home.

I am an 18th Century re-enactor who portrayed Daniel Boone in the live filming of the Siege of Boonesborough 1778 in September of 2005 at Fort Boonesborough State Park.

I have lectured from elementary schools to colleges, to civic groups and organizations and made numerous appearances at living history events across the country. I recently retired after serving 20 years with the Winchester Police Department. My career as a police officer and a detective taught me to develop very strong communication skills and to interact with many types of people with ease.

I settled my family in Boonsborough once more; and shortly after, on the sixth day of October 1780, I went in company with my brother to the Blue Licks; and, on our return home, we were fired upon by a party of Indians.
